Welcome to Scribe-X's monthly series, Scribe Spotlight, where we shine a light on the incredible individuals who make our team extraordinary. This month, we are thrilled to introduce Sage Sherer, a dedicated and talented member of our family. Sage's commitment, passion, and exceptional skills have made a significant impact on providers and patients alike. Join us as we dive into Sage's journey, achievements, and the inspiration behind their success.
What drew you to working with us at Scribe-X?
I had a dear friend of mine who was employed at Scribe-X recommend that I consider a position as a scribe. He himself was applying to medical school and spoke highly of his experiences in solidifying his decision to pursue a career in medicine.
We appreciate all your hard work and dedication to helping others. Can you tell us about a time while working with us when you felt you made a difference for a patient or provider?
I recall a time when working with my main provider when her family was experiencing some health issues. She had a busy schedule and would often need to stay late at the clinic to finish charting. I recognized that I was helping to make a small difference in her life by affording her the ability to go home a little early at the end of the day to care for her family. I appreciated being able to help her during a difficult time.
We know about the benefits that working with you provides, but what about you? What do you think is the biggest benefit you've gotten out of working with Scribe-X?
I think that one of the greatest benefits of working at Scribe-X is simply having the opportunity to interact and engage with all the kind, driven and intelligent employees working there. Nearly everyone you encounter will share in some of your passions for medicine and healthcare and can have a lot to offer in the way of advice and encouragement along your own journey.
Is there any advice you'd give to people considering working as a remote medical scribe?
This may seem like silly advice but I would encourage anyone acting as a telescribe to be very conscious of your seating position and posture throughout the day! Since you'll be seated for much of the day I found it really helpful to get up periodically and stretch you legs and go for a walk on lunch. When you're working, be mindful of your posture and ensure that you aren't slouching all the time like I was.
Is there anybody in your life (professionally or personal) that you'd like to thank or express appreciation for?
I want to give a shout-out to my wife Jamie, she has been and continues to be my rock and source of support day in and day out. The journey of a career in medicine often has humble beginnings and lots of challenges along the road. I am thankful for having such a loving and supportive partner always willing to provide an encouraging and uplifting perspective to keep my gratitude strong!
Do you have any hobbies or interests that you pursue in your free time?
I enjoy being the prep cook for my wife in the kitchen, getting out of my comfort zone at dance classes, and wrenching on car and motorcycle projects in my free time.
Do you have any talents or skills that people would find interesting?
I picked up breadmaking during the pandemic and have kept my sourdough starter alive for five years and counting!
What advice do you have that you wish you could tell everyone?
Its about the journey and not the destination! Believe in yourself and enjoy the ride. Live in the moment and show appreciation for your experiences and those who support you along the way.
