Scribe Spotlight: Danielle Desruisseaux

January 10, 2024

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, the role of a medical scribe is the hero behind accurate patient documentation and efficient communication. At Scribe-X, we take immense pride in our team of dedicated scribes who work tirelessly to ensure healthcare professionals can focus on what matters most—providing exceptional patient care.

As we dive into Danielle's journey with Scribe-X, you'll discover more than just a skilled medical scribe; you'll meet a remarkable individual who consistently goes above and beyond in her responsibilities. From her precise documentation skills to her exceptional interpersonal abilities, Danielle has become a shining example of what it means to be an exemplary employee and, more importantly, a compassionate and caring person.

Danielle's Scribe-X Journey

1. What prompted you to become a medical scribe, and what drew you to Scribe-X?

"My fiancé is on active duty in the Army. I submitted my application to medical school this year, and we just got placed at a new temporary duty station. I needed to find a job that I enjoyed while temporarily at our new duty station. Scribe-X provided that and allowed me to continue working as we will move to another duty station soon after. I have been an onsite scribe before, and this virtual position gave me the flexibility our lifestyle needs right now."

2. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication to helping others. Can you tell us about a time you felt you made a difference for a patient or provider while working with us?

I am fortunate to have been placed with Dr. Keeler. We mesh well together, and I could not have asked for a better physician to spend all day listening to and learning from.

I know I make a difference for him as a provider because he makes sure to tell me and others how much he appreciates me. He tells other physicians, nurses, and patients daily that he has a scribe. He tells them how much time I save him, how grateful he is to be able to focus on the patient interaction, and how much it means to him to go home to his family on time.

I want to go to work each day because I feel genuinely valued by Dr. Keeler, and I am grateful for that fulfillment for both him and me.

3. We know the benefits of working with a remote medical scribe, but what about you? What do you think is the most significant benefit you've gotten out of working with Scribe-X?

I think the biggest benefits are flexibility and career advancement. Working with Scribe-X helps to further my resume and career goals while also being convenient to the current season of life that my fiancé and I are in. The training was quick, and I was immediately working while not throwing off our home life as we had just moved and are only in our current state temporarily.

4. Is there any advice you'd give to people considering working as a remote medical scribe?

I would say that just because it's remote doesn't mean relationships have to be any less meaningful or authentic. We all want human connection and meaningful interactions, and you can foster that environment, whether virtual or in person. I wouldn't expect less from a virtual position.

5. A team cannot be successful without its members' help and hard work, and we want to thank you again for being one of the best scribes we could wish for. To that end, Is there anybody in your life (professionally or personally) that you'd like to thank or express appreciation for?

My list of thank yous would be too long to submit, but from an immediate arms-reach perspective, my greatest appreciation extends to God and my fiancé Chris. They are my rocks every day.

My family and friends are the next layer for me. They are my community and support system.

Professionally, my first scribe position was for Dr. Lorah, a boss who became a mentor and someone I will always look up to.

6. Do you have pets? If so, would you like to share anything about them with our audience?

We have a 2-year-old Australian cattle/golden retriever named Remington. She was abused for the first year of her life, we rescued her 1.5 years ago, and she's the most amazing dog. She is off-leash trained and extremely loyal to Chris and I.

We also have a 4-year-old orange cat named Simba. He was also a rescue and is a once-in-a-lifetime cat. He is leash and harness trained, loves to go for walks, has been on 30 flights, lived in 5 homes, and has driven across the country six times.

So, as we keep the story-sharing vibe alive, let's raise a virtual toast to the cool mix of professional and personal stories that make Scribe-X what it is! 🌟
